There is much controversy about the necessity of daily homework for students. Some say homework is necessary since only practice makes perfect, while others disagree because they believe a student should have the freedom to study whatever in whatever forms just as he/she likes to.
In my opinion, daily homework is necessary for students. First, a teacher could assign homework as a measure for the students to study. A student needs guidance from a teacher because he/she does not have an overall understanding of the knowledge he is going to study from the teacher. This means, at the beginning, a student could not well plan his/her study, just as a kid who is for the first time in a swimming pool could do nothing but to play with water. A teacher could make a good study plan for him/her, so that he/she could learn efficiently.
Secondly, even when a student has already understand what he/she should do in order to master some skill or knowledge, he/she is still unwilling to do this for the lack of motivation. Hey, do not tell me that you have never been lazy at all when you were young. Some homework could function as a task for the student to perform which is helpful to motivate him/her.
Thirdly, homework is an important form of feedback for a teacher to understand the effectively of his/her teacher. As I have mentioned before, a teacher makes a study plan for the students; but does it really work? Or does it work for all the students? It is not difficult to know this only if the teacher pays some attention to the homework of the students. Then he/she may be able to find if there is some problems in his/her teaching, and make corresponding adjustment of his/her teaching, either for all the students or for a single one. Without some feedback, it is impossible for the teacher to do this. A test is also a good form of feedback, but obviously one or two tests are not enough, and sometimes this kind of feedback just comes to late.
However, This conclusion might be misleading that one may believe all forms of homework are necessary. Actually, only proper amount of homework in proper forms is acceptable; some homework may not only fail to help the students, but on contrary bore them, so much so that they may lose their innate interest to study. «Proper» homework, in my opinion, should vary in its forms; it might be some extensive reading, a paper, or even just a game, as well as other ordinary exercises.
And it should leave enough freedom to the students so that they could do things they really like to do with self-motivation, rather than unwillingness. We should always remember that homework is something for us to guide the students, rather than drive them. Only if a teacher keeps this in his/her mind, the homework could be of most help to the students.

С моей точки зрения, ученики разных классов должны выполнять домашнее задание. Выполнение домашнего задания помогает улучшить знания ученика и сделать его образованнее. Часто за выполненное домашние задания учитель может поставить оценку в классный журнал. Кроме того, некоторые домашние задания помогают развить креативность.
Сторонники противоположного мнения убеждены, что когда ученик выполняет слишком большое количество домашней работы у него остаётся свободного времени и это наносит урон здоровью.
Я частично согласен с этой точкой зрения, потому что домашнее задание обязательно нужно делать, но при этом оно не должно отнимать слишком много времени.
В заключение можно сказать, что домашнюю работу должен делать каждый ученик кто заинтересован в своём образовании. Однако я убеждён что всегда должно быть время для отдыха и развлечений.

Home schooling /Домашнее обучение
Most children go to school. However, there is an alternative way to get general education — home schooling. This option has its advantages and disadvantages.
The main advantage of home schooling is an individual approach. It gives an opportunity to schedule learning hours taking into account other interests of the student and his abilities.
But in practice, parents have to spend a lot of time teaching a child, who does not attend school, or hire tutors. Not all families can afford it.
Homeschooled children still take exams at school to get a certificate. So they can’t avoid the stress associated with exams.
School children improve their social and communication skills, find new friends and learn to resolve conflicts. While homeschooled kids get less of such experience. To my mind, this is a disadvantage.
I believe that home schooling is suitable for very gifted children who are able to learn quickly and independently. The standard school curriculum is too easy for them and they just get bored in the classroom. But it is not a common situation.
Sometimes home schooling is not a matter of choice, but of necessity. Some children have health problems that prevent them from attending school.
Although the number of homeschooled children in in Russia has increased in recent years, it still accounts for less than 1% of the total number of schoolchildren.
Большинство детей учатся в школе. Однако существует и альтернативный способ получить общее образование — домашнее обучение. Такой вариант имеет свои преимущества и недостатки.
Главное преимущество домашнего обучения — индивидуальный подход. Можно планировать время занятий с учетом других интересов ученика и его способностей.
Однако на практике родителям приходится уделять много времени обучению ребенка, не посещающего школу, или нанимать репетиторов. Не у всех семей есть такая возможность.
Дети на семейном обучении все равно сдают экзамены в школе для получения аттестата. Так что стресса, связанного с экзаменами, избежать не получится.
В школе дети совершенствуют свои социальные навыки, общаются, находят новых друзей, учатся разрешать конфликты. Дети на домашнем обучении получают меньше подобного опыта. На мой взгляд, это минус.
Полагаю, домашнее обучение подходит очень одаренным детям, которые в состоянии обучаться быстро и самостоятельно. Стандартная школьная программа слишком легкая для них и им просто скучно на уроках. Но такое встречается редко.
Иногда домашнее обучение — это вынужденная мера. Ведь у детей бывают проблемы со здоровьем, препятствующие посещению школы.
Хотя число детей на домашнем обучении в России возросло в последние годы, их все равно менее 1% от общего числа школьников.

В топике Домашнее задание автор приводит аргументы «за и против» слишком больших по объему домашних заданий. Конечно, чем больше учиться и повторять материал, тем легче будет поступить в ВУЗ. Но, проводя много времени, выполняя домашнее задание, можно потерять в общении с друзьями, испортить зрение и т.п. Вывод: объем домашнего задания должен быть оптимальным, за что отвечают учителя школ.
When a person is small, he of course goes to school where people get knowledge which is useful for nowadays world. Some pupils claim, that homework which teachers give us is necessary while other argue that teachers give us lots of homework and we have no time to do it properly. Let`s look upon this problem objectively.
To begin with, teachers have to give students a lot of homework because there is a difference between the levels of school education and university entrance exams. They want the pupils to pass the university entrance exams well, so they have to catch up with the required knowledge. Moreover, students should do homework because following this way they revise the material and practice it at the same time. In addition, if you understand the home tasks you will be able to do the same tasks at school and get excellent mark.
In contrast to this, if you have loads of homework you will have no free time. Because of this, you feel lack of communication. As a result, you can spoil relationship with your friends. What is more, you can have problems with your health especially connected with eyes and back. Furthermore, you have to go to bed very late and as a result you can be aggressive and nervous.
To sum up, large homework has as many strong points as many weak points. To my mind, teachers should give us normal homework.

I’m going to give a talk about my school homework.
It usually takes me from 3 to 4 hours to do my homework. It depends on the day, of course, for example Friday is the busiest day of my week and it means that on Thursday I have to spend even more than 4 hours to finish all the tasks for the next day. Also it depends on the subjects I have to learn too.
I usually start with the subjects I’m good at such as Russian and English. It takes less time and less energy to finish things you like or at least don’t hate. I can’t stand History and I avoid and postpone my homework for this subject. I always do it the last.
In my opinion school homework is a good way to revise things which were learnt in the classroom. We can’t understand everything without extra time for revision but after a hard school day and 4 hours of homework many schoolchildren are almost exhausted.
In my opinion we should be given a bit less homework to have some time for our hobbies and interests so I have got contradictory attitude to school homework.
I think that’s all that I wanted to tell you about my school homework.
