The Internet (14 sentences) –
The Internet is the newest kind of mass media and the most popular source of information and entertainment nowadays. If you have the internet access, you may read newspapers online, watch films, listen to music, listen to the radio and even watch television online.
I use the Internet every day for at least an hour. I usually visit music, film and sports websites. I also like social networking sites because such platforms as Facebook, Myspace, VKontakte and many more allow people to send messages, play games, chat, exchange photos and videos. I often browse the Internet to find necessary information for my studies. When I deal with a school project I always visit different amazing websites and library web pages to collect some interesting facts on a given topic. To improve my skills in English and German I often read foreign magazines and newspapers online.
On the other hand, the Internet can be dangerous. First of all, you should take care what information you share and with whom because there are many dishonest people on social networking sites who can even steal money from you. Internet users also need to have antivirus software to protect their computers. Moreover, many people spend too much time sitting in front of the computer screen. This is very unhealthy and, as a result, they may become overweight.
In conclusion, I would like to say that, if you are careful, the Internet can be a great form of entertainment and communication.

Youth problems (16 sentences) –
Variant 1
It seems that teens have no problems, as they don’t work or take care of their families. But this is not true. They can face many problems at home and at school. The most common problems for young people are resisting peer pressure, preventing gossiping about you, dealing with bullies and conflicts with their parents.
It is not easy to be a student, especially when another student is gossiping about you. There are some things you can do to change the situation for the better.
First of all, you should talk to a person who is gossiping about you. As a result, they may stop immediately.
Secondly, ignore them when they talk about you. They can do it to get a reaction from you or because they want attention. When you show them that it doesn’t bother you, they might lose interest.
Another thing you can do is to spread some positive news about yourself around the school. Consequently, you will balance out the negative gossip.
All in all, dealing with people that gossip can be difficult. However, I believe you should handle it in a positive way by talking to the person directly, ignoring them or by highlighting the things you do well. If you can do that, the problem will go away soon.

The most common problems for young people are resisting peer pressure, preventing gossiping about you, dealing with bullies and conflicts with their parents.
Peer pressure is a normal part of growing up, but it can sometimes be so strong that it makes you feel you don’t control your life. What can you do to resist peer pressure?
To begin with, it’s important to trust your own feelings and know your personal limits. As a result, you will feel more confident in your actions.
Secondly, you should choose your friend carefully. Then, if your friends share your beliefs, you will reduce the amount of peer pressure you may experience.
Another helpful suggestion is to talk it through with someone you trust, such as a friend, teacher or parent. They may be able to give you helpful advice, as they probably have experience with peer pressure too.
All in all, I think peer pressure can be a major problem. However, if you are confident and have support from good friends, peer pressure will never be a problem for you again.

Global warming (14 sentences) –
Our planet is in danger. Heavy traffic, air pollution, litter, endangered animals and global warming are among the most serious problems people face nowadays.
Global warming is the increase of the average temperature on the Earth.
Climate change can have a serious effect on the people. If the ice sheets of Greenland and Antarctica ever melt completely, whole countries will vanish and millions of people in low-lying areas will lose their homes.
Global warming is a serious threat to wildlife. In particular, Arctic polar bears are in great danger, because the ice that they hunt from is melting very fast. They have to swim further and further to find food and many starve or drown. Some people believe that 30-40 % of the world’s species could become extinct because of climate change.
Nowadays we have more and more extreme and unpredictable weather such as heavy rain and snow, storms, heatwaves, droughts, more powerful hurricanes and tornadoes. What can we do to save our planet?
To help, we can cycle, walk or take a bus instead of using a car, use energy-saving bulbs and wear more clothes instead of turning up the heat.
There many ways to make our planet a better place to live. If we take action now, there might be some hope for the future.

Modern technology allows us to stay connected to family, friends and events all over the world. As for me, I have a mobile phone, a computer, a games console and an MP3 player. I use these gadgets every day to call my friends, send text messages, send emails, use Facebook, take pictures, play computer games, listen to music and for my schoolwork. They are very useful. But using modern devices can be unhealthy. For example, if you spend too much time playing computer games, you may become overweight. To avoid possible health problems we should always remember how to use our gadgets wisely.
We should warm up before we start playing a video game or we can get shoulder strain.
We should set the volume on our MP3 players at a low level or we can suffer from hearing loss.
We should send fewer text messages or use different fingers when you text or we can get thumb arthritis.
We should clean our mobile phones properly or we can get a skin infection, acne or a rash.
We shouldn’t spend too much time in front of a computer screen or we can get eye strain.
In conclusion, I believe that using modern gadgets can be quite healthy if you follow this advice and take an interest in sports.

Choosing a future profession –
These days most teenagers and university students have part-time jobs such as a waiter, a delivery person, a camp counsellor, an office clerk or a lab assistant. I think a camp counsellor is a great job because you organize sports and other activities, and have fun. Counsellors get free room and board and they also earn a good wage. A computer lab assistant is a popular part-time job because it’s valuable experience in the student’s chosen profession. The job can often be low-paid or even unpaid, but the company sometimes offers the intern a job after they graduate.
More and more young people are taking on volunteer work nowadays. They build homes for poor families, teach children English, take care of orphans, or help to protect an endangered species. I would like to take part in (to go on, to volunteer for, to participate in) an educational project (a construction project, a conservation project) to teach English and Maths to children in their community (to build houses or schools for poor children around the world, to do wildlife research and protect endangered animals).
At the end of the 11th form I am going to pass Russian National Exam. I have to study hard to get a necessary number of exam points to enter a university. I am good at English and Russian, Maths and Physics (History, Art, Geography, Music, Science, ICT, PE). (I would like to become a police officer (a shop assistant, a surgeon, a judge, a firefighter, a flight attendant, an artist, a nurse, a sports coach, a taxi driver, a secretary, a social worker, an interior designer, a waiter/waitress, a babysitter, a journalist, a businessman, a security guard).
A police officer’s job is dangerous because they deal with people who don’t obey the law. To be a good police officer I need to be brave and honest.
(A shop assistant’s job is easy because they do the same thing every day. To be a good shop assistant I need to be friendly and polite.
A camp counsellor’s job is interesting because they work with children. To be a good camp counsellor I need to be friendly and creative.
A surgeon’s job is well-paid because they operate on people. To be a good surgeon I need to be organized and caring.
A judge’s job is difficult because they have to apply the law. To be a good judge I need to be organized and honest.
A firefighter’s job is dangerous because they put out fires. To be a good firefighter I need to be fit and strong.
A flight attendant’s job is demanding because they have to look after lots of passengers on a plane. To be a good flight attendant I need to be friendly and polite.
An interior designer’s job is creative because they develop original ideas for decorating the inside of buildings. To be a good interior designer I need to be organized and creative.
A secretary’s job is difficult because they plan everything. To be a good secretary I need to be organized and polite.
An artist’s job is interesting because they develop original ideas. To be a good artist I need to be organized and creative.
A nurse’s job is demanding because they look after sick people. To be a good nurse I need to be patient and caring.
A sport’s coach job is difficult because they need to stay calm and not get annoyed. To be a good sports coach I need to be patient and organised.
A taxi driver’s job is interesting because they deal with people from different backgrounds. To be a good taxi driver I need to be patient and polite.)
I think I will be a good engineer, electrician or surgeon because I am a realistic, down –to earth person and I like working with materials.
(I think I will be a good nurse, social worker or psychologist because I am a caring and helpful person and I like working with people.
I think I will be a good architect, film director or interior designer because I am an artistic and creative person and I am also good at solving problems and I like coming up with new ideas.)

I think a camp counsellor is a great job because you organize sports and other activities, and have fun. A computer lab assistant is a popular part-time job because it’s valuable experience in the student’s chosen profession. The job can often be low-paid or even unpaid, but the company sometimes offers the intern a job after they graduate.
At the end of the 11th form I am going to pass Russian National Exam. I have to study hard to get a necessary number of exam points to enter a university. I am good at Art and ICT. I would like to become an interior designer.
An interior designer’s job is creative because they develop original ideas for decorating the inside of buildings. To be a good interior designer I need to be organized and creative.
I think I will be a good interior designer because I am an artistic and creative person and I am also good at solving problems and I like coming up with new ideas.

Books and reading. (15 sentences) –
I think that we can’t live without books. There are a lot of different kinds of books in the world. For example, thrillers, historical novels, science fiction, adventure books and others. Encyclopaedias, reference books and dictionaries help us to do well at school. More than that, computers help me to do my homework too.
But I don’t believe that computers will replace printed books in the future, because printed books have certain advantages over electronic media. First of all, they are cheaper and easier to use. Secondly, printed books don’t need electricity, and you can take a book with you wherever you like, even to bed. What’s more, a printed book is better for human eyes than a computer screen. So I think that printed books will coexist with computers and will always be a part of human culture because books teach us to be honest, kind and sympathetic.
I enjoy reading very much. Most of all I like reading fantasy novels because they have interesting story lines and unusual endings. My favourite book is «The Alchemist» by the Brazilian author Paulo Coelho. It’s about a boy on a journey to follow his dream. This is a great book and I would recommend it to anyone!
(I enjoy reading very much. Most of all I like reading fantasy novels because they are full of magic. My favourite book is «The Hobbit» by the English author John Tolkien. It’s about characters who go through dangers to complete their mission. I find this an enjoyable book to read because it’s exciting and moves quickly.)

After
each term in school we have our holidays. It’s fun to have holidays. You can do
whatever you like. You don’t have to get up early, do your homework or think of
troubles at school.
Most
of all I like summer holidays because they are the longest ones. I’d like to
tell you about my summer holidays which I spent at home (in Kovrov, by my
granny, in a camp, with my friends). The weather was fine and it was hot. I
spent a lot of time on the beach and enjoyed swimming. I went to the forest
with my parents to pick berries and gather mushrooms. I watched TV, played
computer games, read books, magazines and newspapers, helped my grandparents
(parents) in the garden. I spent a lot of time with my friends. We went for a
walk, played sports games and had picnics.
I enjoyed
my summer holidays very much.
It’s
very interesting to take part in the World Teenagers’ competition. And it’s
very exciting to win it. If you want to be a winner, you will have to work hard
and be successful. 50 (fifty) lucky participants of 12 (twelve) years have the
chance to visit all the English-speaking countries absolutely free. So for the
chance to win the tour they must just answer the following questions:
1)
Can you describe yourself in five words?
2)
What would you most like to change in yourself?
3)
What’s your motto?
4)
How do you see yourself in 10 (ten) years time?
5)
How do you see our planet in 10 (ten) years time?
If
you are over the age of 12 (twelve), like travelling, want to make new friends
and want to improve your English, just answer these questions!
I
have a lot of friends, but my best friend is (…). He (she) is 12 (twelve) (…).
He (she) has blue (green, brown, grey, black) eyes, a round face, fair (dark)
long (short) and straight (curly) hair and a broad smile. He is short (long)
and slim (fat). I have known him (her) for a long time (since our first school
years). But we became friends four (five, …) years ago.
He
(she) is in the 7th (seventh) (8th,9th ….)
form. He (she) likes to study at school and he (she) does it well. His (her)
favourite subject(s) is (are) English (Russian, Maths, History,…). He (she)
spends a lot of time learning it.
My
friend is nice, kind and reliable. He (she) often helps me to do my homework. I
like to spend my free time with my friend. We go for a walk, read and discuss
books together, play different games. I like my friend very much. I think we
are true friends.
I
am going to tell you about my plans for the future. As for my future
profession, I want to be a doctor (a nurse, a programmer, a teacher, a
businessman, a journalist, a librarian). I like this profession because I love
people and want to help them to recover. I am eager to get a medical (higher)
education and work at a hospital (at school, in the office, at the library). I
should be responsible, confident and kind. This profession is very interesting
and useful because it helps people to become healthy. And health is the most
important thing in our life.
As
for my future family, I would like to have a big friendly family: my wife
(husband), I and 2-3 (two-three) lovely kids. We’ll love and respect each other
and help in different situations.
I
hope that my dreams will come true sooner or later.

There
are a lot of famous people in the world. For example, Daniel Defoe was a famous
English writer. Joseph Turner was a master of water-colours. Charles Darwin was
a well-known scientist. But I would like to tell you about Andrei Sakharov, the
famous Russian academician.
A.Sakharov was born in 21 May (in the twenty-first of May), 1921 (nineteen
twenty-one) in Moscow. By the age of 32 (thirty-two) he was one of the world’s
most famous scientists in Russia. He devoted himself to fighting against future
atomic wars. He was one of the founders of the Moscow Committee on Human
Rights. He won the Nobel Peace Prize in 1975 (nineteen seventy-five).
A.Sakharov is the author of several books on progress and freedom all over the
world. He died on the 14 (fourteen) of December, 1989 (nineteen eighty-nine).
Now, many years after A.Sakharov’s death people still remember him and share
his ideas.
Most people in the world have some superstitions. They believe in good luck and
bad luck. There are some British superstitions. For example, black cats are
lucky. On the first day of the month it’s lucky to say “white rabbits”. Catch
falling leaves in autumn and you’ll have good luck. If you see two magpies,
you’ll be happy. Never open an umbrella in the house. Never break a mirror –
that means 7 years’ bad luck. Don’t go past somebody on the stairs. The number
13 is very unlucky. Don’t walk under a ladder.
There are some Russian superstitions. For example, if you have horseshoe over
the door, find a fourleaf clover or wear a charm, you’ll be lucky. If you meet
a woman with empty pails or a black cat, you’ll be unlucky.
It’s everyone’s right to believe in different superstitions or not but we
should be careful and not play with our fate.
Computers play a very important role in our life. We are living in the age of
information. Today people can work, go shopping or even go on dates sitting at
their computers.
As
for me, I really enjoy using my computer. I can make new friends and chat with
them on the Internet. Besides, the Internet helps me in my studies. I can find
the necessary information on the Internet. My hobby is computer games. It’s so
interesting and exciting.
So,
computers offer wonderful opportunities for everybody. But I think that young
people spend too much time using computers. They don’t have time for
communication with their relatives and friends, for reading and sport. They
become nervous, angry and tired. Computers can be addictive. And sitting in
front of them for hours is bad for eyes.
So,
I think that computers are very useful in our modern life but they can’t
substitute for real communication.
In
all the countries people speak different languages. The Russians speak Russian,
the Germans speak Germans, the French speak French, the English speak English.
English is very popular today. It’s the language of computers, science,
business, sport and politics. It’s spoken all over the world. It is the
official language of the United Kingdom, Ireland, The United States of America,
Canada, Australia. More than 750 (seven hundred and fifty) million people in
the world speak English.
It’s very important to know foreign languages. It can help you to understand
other people better or to find a good job. You must work hard to learn foreign
language. Some people can learn many foreign languages. They know that when we
have learned one foreign language, learning a second foreign language is much
easier. I try to do my best by learning English.
About
20% (twenty per cent) of the world’s population speak English. Doctors and
scientists all over the world exchange their ideas in English. Every pilot and
ship’s captain must speak English to communicate with each other. Most of world
known singers sing their songs in English. English is the language of politicians.
Most international journalists have to know English, too. 80% (eighty per cent)
of all information in the world’s computers is in English.
English
is spoken (as a first language) in Australia, Canada, New Zealand, the United
Kingdom, the United States, etc. (et cetera). People in 30 (thirty) countries
speak English as a second language. English is the only solution to
communication problems in India where people speak different languages. About
70% (seventy per cent) of Russian students choose English as their first
foreign language.
So, I think that now it’s very important to know a foreign language. I like
studying English because I want to read English newspapers, magazines and
original books. It’s difficult but very interesting.
I
would like to tell you about English-speaking countries: the USA, Canada and
the UK.
One
of the most powerful countries is the USA. The capital of the USA is
Washington. English is the official language in this country. But the official
language spoken in the USA is known as American English. The second important
language in the United States is Spanish.
Canada
is the second largest country in the world. The capital of Canada is Ottawa.
The maple tree is the official emblem of Canada. There are two official
languages in the country: English and French.
One
of the world’s smallest countries is the UK. The capital of the UK is London.
The official language is English. My dream is to visit London. I hope that my dream will come true.
I
would like to tell you about my country. Russia is one of the largest countries
in the world. Its total area is over 17 (seventeen) million square kilometers.
The population of Russia is about 150 (one hundred and fifty) million. The
official language is Russian.
Moscow
is the capital of our country. It was founded in 1147 (eleven forty-seven). It
is a nice city. The Moscow Kremlin is very nice.
Winters
in Russia are cold, springs and autumns are warm and cool, summers are hot and
warm. There are many seas, lakes and rivers in Russia. The longest rivers are
the Volga, the Yenisei and the Ob. The deepest lakes are the Baikal and the
Ladoga.
The
Russian Federation is very rich in mineral resources, such as oil, natural gas,
coal, iron, gold and others.
Russia
borders on many countries. Among them are Estonia, Latvia, Finland. But Russia
is the best country in the world. I like it very much.
It
is necessary to learn Russian because it’s our native language. That’s why
pupils in our country have got such a subject at school. Russian is an
international language. It is important for teenagers from other countries to
learn Russian because it’s a foreign language for them. If they go to Russia,
they will be able to speak Russian there. They learn Russian because they want
to read Russian literature in the original. Teenagers from other countries know
and like such Russian writers as Pushkin, Turgenev, Tolstoy, Dostoevsky and
others. If they can speak Russian, it will be easy for them to visit
international friendship camps and communicate with teenagers from Russia.
As for me, I like Russian. Russian language is a wonderful language. It’s the
language of great literature. I think that to know Russian today is absolutely
necessary for every educated Russian person.
There
are different kinds of transport: a train, a helicopter, a plane, a bus, a car,
a bicycle, a motorcycle, a ship, a boat and others. Lots of people in Russia
live far from their work. They often go by train or by bus from the suburbs
into the centre of the town to work. Almost all people like to travel. When you
are on holiday you can travel by car, by train, by plane and by ship.
I
like to travel by car (by train, by plane, by bus, by bike). It is the most
comfortable (the cheapest, the fastest, the safest) kind of transport and
interesting, too. You can see many things in a short time. When we go by car
(by train, by plane, by bus, by bike), we don’t need (need) to buy tickets and
we put all the things we need into the car (we enjoy seeing a lot of beautiful
places).
I
thing that travelling is a very enjoyable thing for us and I enjoy all kinds of
travelling very much.
Teenagers
all over the world have many problems. They have problems with parents, they can’t
get along with their sisters and brothers; have problems at school, with their
teachers, friends and classmates.
As
for me, I have problems with my homework. I am not allowed to go out in the
evening because there is too much homework to do. Sometimes I argue with my
parents. They don’t allow me to watch TV late and to play computer games for a
long time because it’s bad for my eyes and some TV programmes are too violent.
I feel upset and lonely when I have an argument with my parents. Sometimes my
parents and my teachers aren’t happy with my marks at school. I get so angry
about it! They can’t realize that I can’t do better (that I try to do my best
at school).
So, though I have some problems, I am a happy person. I like my parents and my
friends very much.
At
the age of 6 (six) or 7 (seven) all boys and girls go to school. I go to
school, too. My school is large and light. It is neither old nor new. It has
three floors. My school has many classrooms, a library, a hall, a dining-room.
There is a gymnasium near the dining-room. I like to go there because I like
physical training lessons.
School
plays a very important role in our life. It’s a place where we make friends,
where it is fun; where we learn about people as well as subjects, where we take
exams and write tests too often. It’s a place which helps us to find a good job
in the future.
I like my school very much because my school is nice, it is not far from my
house and my friends go to the same school. Our teachers are good. They are
quite strict but they have a sense of humour. I like studying in my school.
Students
are very “inventive” in their ways to make teachers’ lives hard. There are some
punishments used in British and some Russian schools: lines, detention, report,
suspension, exclusion.
When
a teacher gives you “lines”, you write out some sentence again and again. For
example, “I must do my homework”.
If
you are in detention, you do extra work – perhaps clean the classroom. If you
are “on report”, teacher reports that you have behaved badly.
If
you are suspended, you cannot come to school for a few days or weeks. This is
serious. If you are excluded, you have to go to another school where the
teachers all know about your bad behaviour. It’s very serious.
I think that the easiest punishment is report, the hardest – exclusion, the
most effective – detention.
The Code of conduct is used
in British schools. Our school rules have much in common with them.
First of all, always do your best in school. Be on time, don’t be late. Be
polite with your teachers. Don’t waste your time. Be quiet around the school.
Think safety first. Use entrances, exists and toilets properly. Keep valuables
at home. Smoking is prohibited. Eating, chewing is only possible at breaks and
lunch times. Be sensible in bad weather. Wear warmly clothes. Play in the right
place. Follow these rules in order not to be punished.
I
would like to add that you must not miss your lessons, get bad marks, talk with
your classmates during the lesson and prompt them when they answer. Wear school
uniform and always do your homework. I try to follow these rules.
Sport
is very important to us. It is popular among young and old people. Sport makes
people healthy, keeps them fit, more organized and better disciplined. It
unites people of different classes and nationalities.
There are summer and winter sports. Summer sports are football, horse riding,
tennis, cycling, rugby, athletics which includes running, jumping and other
things. Winter sports are figure skating, hockey, ice-skating, skiing.
There are several popular sports in our country: football, volley-ball, hockey,
gymnastics, skiing and figure skating. As for me, football (basketball,
volley-ball, tennis, swimming) is the most interesting than anything else. I’m
not just a football fan, I’m a player as well. I take part in different sports
competitions together with my friends. We always try to get good results and
win.
People
of all ages and types join different sports clubs, go jogging in the park or do
exercises at home to improve their health and to keep fit.
If
you want to be healthy you should eat more fruit and vegetables. There are a
lot of vitamins in fruit and vegetables. Each vitamin is responsible for
different things in the human body. For example, vitamin A is in green apples
and yellow vegetables, milk and eggs. It’s necessary for seeing in the dark.
Vitamin B is in meat, porridge and bread. It’s responsible for the nervous
system. Vitamin C is in every fruit and vegetable. It helps to prevent colds.
As for me, I do morning exercises, try to avoid fast food, eat fruit and
vegetables. I don’t have bad habits like smoking, alcohol, drugs. I spend a lot
of time in the open air and advise all the people to do the same.
The Olympic
Games are the most important sports event in the world. They are held every
four years. Five linked rings are the emblem of the Olympic games. These rings
represent five parts of the world: Europe, America, Australia, Africa, Asia.
The greatest wish for all the sportsmen is to win a medal, or simply to take
part in the Olympic Games.
I
know some Olympic champions. For example, Olga Korbut is the Olympic champion
in gymnastics, Lyubov Egorova – in skiing, Vladislav Tretyak – in ice hockey,
Vladimir Salnikov – in swimming, Sergey Bubka – in athletics, Irina Rodnina –
in figure skating.
The
22nd (twenty-second) Summer Olympic Games were held in Moscow in 1980 (nineteen
eighty). The 22nd (twenty-second) Winter Olympic Games were held in Sochi. I
enjoy watching the Olympic Games on TV. It’s really very interesting and
exciting!

1. My New School Is Fantastic
Rita Nelson is fourteen, and she has changed her school because her parents moved to another town this summer.
“Let me tell you about my new school. I’m having a great time. All pupils are very friendly, but it’s very different from my old school. I can tell you! First of all school starts at 8.00 here, a whole hour before it did in that school. This morning I forgot about it and got to school ten minutes late, so the teacher put a note into my record-book. I was really angry!
There are a lot of other differences in this school, of course. We have seven lessons here almost every day. What else? The school day is different, too. In my former school we finished school at 3.00, and then most pupils went home. Here we finish lessons at 3.30, and then most pupils go to sports practice. Well, they love sports here.
I joined gymnastics and football clubs here. A lot of girls play football in this school. I had my first practice yesterday, and I feel tired today.
Another important thing here is learning to do practical things. Their metal and wood shops are like small factories, and we are taught to drive as well. It’s fantastic. I had my first lesson in driving a tractor yesterday.”

3. — Music in the Streets
As you go home after a hard day’s work, and you get off the metro train, you sometimes have to walk a long way to the exit or to change trains. Suddenly in the noise, some music is heard. Those are street musicians. You take out a coin from your pocket and throw it into their hat or instrument case. These musicians bring color and life to the city streets. Street musicians are aged between 17 and 30 years. Some of them are men, some women. They play classical music, pop or folk music, old and new songs. Many musicians are former university students or professional musicians.
Andrew Hain, for example, was once a music student, but he gave up music and became a painter. Now he plays in the underground because he doesn’t want to forget how to play. His girlfriend is a painter, too. She helps him to collect the money. Another street musician, David MacNell, tells new players:
“Learn new songs all the time, or else you’ll have fewer and fewer listeners. Wear bright clothes to attract attention. Make sure that the places where you choose to play are warm. The best places are bridges and certainly the underground.”
On Sundays, Hyde Park is the best place, as the speakers here address the people. The street musicians are doing their business with the many tourists who visit the park. The weather is one of the worst problems. It is not so easy to play the violin or the guitar on a rainy November day in London and try to smile.
A much worse problem is the police. From time to time, they come, and the musicians are moved to a different place. True, they are not often fined. One musician told me:
“The policeman asked me what I was doing. I said I was just practising. Some money just fell out of my pocket into the guitar case, and I was told to leave my place. I think it’s not fair. People love street music. It makes the city more attractive.”

Give a talk about the Internet
Remember to say:
Why Internet activities are so popular;
How the Internet can help students in their studies;
Whether the Internet can be dangerous, why.
You have to talk for 1,5 – 2 minutes.
The examiner will listen until you have finished. Then the teacher will ask you some questions.
Mass media –
Source of information –

Give a talk about youth problems.
Remember to say:
- about common problems for most young people;
- the ways to avoid them;
- about the problems you face at home and at school.
You have to talk for 1,5 – 2 minutes.

Youth problems (16 sentences) –

- about the ways to reduce carbon footprint.
You have to talk for 1,5 – 2 minutes.
The examiner will listen until you have finished. Then the teacher will ask you some questions.
Global warming is a serious threat to wildlife .

Technology and health (13 sentences) –

Spring is a wonderful season. It is my favourite season because everything is so beautiful and colourful.
The weather is usually warm and sunny in spring. Beautiful flowers grow everywhere and the birds build their nests in the trees. However, the weather changes quickly. Sometimes, grey clouds appear in the sky and it rains, but after the rain, the sky turns blue again.
In spring, I spend a lot of time outdoors. I often ride my bicycle and play with my friends in the park. The countryside is lovely in spring, so my family and I often go on picnics on Sundays.

Many sports are popular in our country. They are football, hockey, basketball, volleyball, tennis, skiing, ice-skating, wrestling, shooting and many others. Some people are fond of extreme sports such as rock-climbing, white-water rafting, speed skiing, freediving or windsurfing.
Rock – climbing is my favourite sport. There is nothing I like better than being outdoors, standing high up on a mountain and looking down at the rest of the world.
There are several reasons why rock-climbing is such a popular sport. To start with, it is very exciting because you can explore many interesting places. It is also good exercise, as it helps you keep fit and healthy. It’s relaxing, too! Being out in the fresh air can help you forget your everyday problems.
On the other hand, rock-climbing can sometimes be dangerous. For example, you have to be very careful and well-trained to avoid having an accident. It is also rather expensive, as the equipment costs quite a lot of money. You need an elastic rope, a helmet and boots with metal spikes to go rock-climbing.
In conclusion, I believe that, although rock-climbing can be dangerous, it is a fantastic sport! It is the perfect way to exercise and travel around the countryside at the same time. Try it and see for yourself!

It’s also a very thrilling sport. Speeding down the steep slopes of the mountains makes you feel like a bird.
Another good thing about skiing is that it helps you relax. Being out in the fresh air makes you forget your problems.
However, learning to ski can sometimes be dangerous as you can hurt yourself. Sometimes it is also difficult and tiring because you need a lot of time to practise. Speed skiing is also rather expensive, as the equipment costs quite a lot of money. You need a pair of skis, safety goggles and ski boots to go speed skiing.
To sum up, although speed skiing can sometimes be difficult, I think it’s an excellent way to exercise. Try it and see for yourself!
White-water rafting —
Speed skiing –
At the rest of the world – на остальной мир
Thrilling – волнующий, захватывающий
Extreme Sports (13 sentences) –
Some people are fond of extreme sports such as rock-climbing, white-water rafting, speed skiing, freediving or windsurfing.
Rock – climbing is my favourite sport.

Give a talk about choosing a future profession
Remember to say:
- What jobs are popular with teenagers nowadays and why;
- What you like about your future career;
- Why you think you will be a good specialist.
You have to talk for 1,5 – 2 minutes.
The examiner will listen until you have finished. Then the teacher will ask you some questions.
At the end of the 11 th form I am going to pass Russian National Exam.
A firefighter’s job is dangerous becaus e they put out fires .
